The Alpamare in Bad Tölz is a water park for the whole family, but it’s certainly not the only water park in the area. One very special feature, however, makes the Alpamare stand out from the rest: its spectacular wave pool for surfers.
The goal was to advertise this USP in the greater Munich area cost-efficiently, with great effect and with a wide reach, so as to heighten the public’s awareness of the water park. When it came to selecting the media, we went for taxi advertising.
Let’s face it: Transit advertising on taxis is nothing to write home about. It tends to be boring, lack creativity and – more than anything – be static.
And static, we realized, is exactly what a surfer wave must never be when it comes to advertising! Since a taxi is constantly moving, starting up and slowing down, we came up with the idea of harnessing this energy for our campaign. We took our surfer wave right out onto the road.
We replaced the advertising boxes affixed to the roofs of the taxis with small “aquariums” filled with a special liquid. The movement of the taxis set the liquid in motion and created fantastic waves. By adding two figures – a surfer and a female swimmer – to the “aquarium”, the fun of riding the Alpamare wave was perfectly conveyed.
